Movie 2011 Previews

This may not be as much as a post for other people as it is for myself to look back on in 365 odd days. These are the movies that I have seen that interest me the most, although the ones in the past five years I’ve been most impressed with are the ones during the Oscar run up when they are better in story and not just summer popcorn movies.

Oh well, on that note, here are the movies I’ve caught bits and pieces of that I want to see in 2011. These are not in any particular order, let me know what you think if you are reading these.

Cowboys and Aliens
Ok, I’m not big on Westerns but I will be going to see the remake True Grit in the next week as I do like the Coen Brothers, but with Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and the always lovely Olivia Wilde, this one actually looks pretty good, oh and some guy named Spielberg behind it all.

Cars 2
Pixar, ’nuff said

Contagion
Again, this movie looks like it has been done before, a virus outbreak that threatens humanity but the difference is that this one is done by Steven Soderbergh with such actors such as Matt Damon, Gweynth Paltrow, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, egad the list goes on. The Adjustment Bureau
If I try to leave my reasons short, it’s this, Phillip K. Dick, ok so most of the movie adaptations of his books have not reached the heights of say Blade Runner, but his writing is great, the stories original and this one starring Matt Damon is on my list. Other movies that came from him: Total Recall, A Scanner Darkly, Minority Report, Paycheck, Next and more.

Super 8
Not sure how much I can say about this except there isn’t much out there. It’s about area 51, looks like aliens (maybe) and has  JJ Abrams behind it, he usually has good stuff.

Paul
Speaking of Area 51, I really like Simon Pegg, the guy is super funny and this one is about two guys that travel from Britain to go across the USA and in Area 51 they meet up with an alien

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part II
So they broke it into two parts and it will all be over, no trailers out there right now, so will update this post later when they do. I will be there at midnight I’m sure, but it is a good fantasy escape and even non nerds have embraced this guy, so I’ll take it. I did visit the Harry Potter Park in Orlando this past October so I’m still hyped. Again, here is the link to IMDB, they will have the trailer as well when it comes out:

Sucker Punch
I’m not sure if I want to see this or not, it can go either way as it looks really crazy. It is from Zack Snyder, the guy behind movies such as 300 and Watchmen, they are even letting him redo Superman, or reboot I guess. This movie can go either way, either do really well or just plain bomb, putting it on here cause I have no idea and want to see.
